Functional lab testing aims to evaluate how well bodily systems and organs are functioning, rather than just identifying diseases. Unlike conventional lab tests, which focus on diagnosing specific diseases or conditions, functional lab tests look for patterns and imbalances that might lead to illness. These tests aim to identify imbalances or dysfunctions before they develop into diseases and give insight into factors that may be directly contributing to your symptoms. Alongside your health history and symptoms, they are paired with our physical therapy and/or health coaching as an add-on service. They are also available as standalone services for non-established clients. See below for our offerings and reviews.
Functional Testing
GI MAP
The GI MAP is a comprehensive stool test that analyzes bacteria, fungi, parasites, and pathogens like H. Pylori and E. coli. It assesses digestive function, fat breakdown, enzyme production, gut inflammation, and immune health through DNA analysis using quantitative PCR for accurate results. This personalized insight helps create tailored healing plans for faster, more effective relief.
MRT
The MRT (Mediator-Release Test) is a food sensitivity blood test that identifies foods and chemicals causing inflammation in your body. By detecting immune reactions, it helps pinpoint which foods to avoid and which are safe to consume, offering personalized guidance for managing symptoms. (We don’t offer MRT as a standalone test since the results on their own don’t offer enough information to effectively move the needle in your healing.)
GI Map + MRT
The ideal combination is both a GI MAP and an MRT to take the guesswork out of GI healing and allow targeted-specific healing recommendations. The general plan is to identify what is happening in the gut, remove foods that are actively triggering symptoms and inflammation, heal the intestinal terrain and optimize digestion. Then, slowly reintroduce foods as tolerated.
